Day 56 : Math

Remember that school where you belonged in a class room for major part of your day listening to many who would walk in and out every hour? Teachers and students. The times we were supposed to learn where no one ever told us that even beyond school there is always learning. Actually especially after school and college, we learn the most important lessons and will remain a student forever.

So sitting there in that math class, how we so easily accepted 1+1=2 or 2×2=4 ! Just told once by teachers and no matter how many WHYs we have in mind, we still went with it and accepted it to be the way it is. Life teaches us so many lessons too. Repetitively. Why dont we believe that the way we believed our teacher writing on the blackboard with a white chalk in that math class? Black board and white chalk. Black and white. It’s surprising to now notice how lessons have always been so discrete. Lessons are either black or white. Don’t know where we find our illusional grey ground!

Not only do we not learn our lessons easily, but we also tend to complicate the easy problems life poses in front of us. When life throws an easy question, suppose 2+3=?, we go above and beyond with our overthinking skills and successfully complicate it before attempting to answer. Because according to us why will life give such an easy problem to solve, ofcourse there must be a hidden complex equation inside it which we have to deduce first before answering. Otherwise the question doesnt suit our standard, our brilliant brain. Correct?

So 2+3=? becomes 2×(50+70-20)/100 × (3^2)/9 + 3×(3-2)/(1^1000) =? Wow now the question looks worth attempting! Who even would wana invest time in 2+3? So simple a question. Is life even insulting our intelligence quotient by asking a question with no length, hardly any time to solve, so damn direct, lame ofcourse, no unknown variables, no reason to even think of BODMAS, all lessons we learnt and pages together of practice, all in vain! 2+3? Really is that the problem you want me to solve? Is that how silly you think of me? Inefficient for your complex twisted questions? How dare you, Mr life? And now after this insulting question with 2 digits and 1 symbol, you go silent? Hmph Fine! 2+3 = 6.
